Get yourselves down to Lomeshaye industrial estate today where we have teamed up with Global Bakery Solutions LTD to promote the new cycle infastructure in Pendle.

Drop in over lunch and try a bike, get your bike serviced and come and see what the new Bridleway is all about.

We love a bit of parental feedback and we love more that Hannah has really enjoyed Bikeability! Well done to our instructors Kate, Ruth, John & Paul and thanks Sonya for emailing us this morning!

I just wanted to drop you a line and thank you so much for delivering Bikeability at SSMM Garstang on Monday and Tuesday. My daughter Hannah has been raving about how much she enjoyed it and how wonderful you all were.

Many Thanks

Sonya

This is brilliant! What a great idea. Our friends at Decathlon UK have launched their BuyBack service, where customers can trade in their old or unwanted cycles for gift cards.
Backed by Team GB cyclists Dame Laura Kenny and Sir Jason Kenny, find out more about the sustainable scheme as we head into the festive period 👇

Cycling Events

We know from plenty of experience that we can draw a crowd at events, by offering lots of audience participation and promoting all things bike-related.

About This Project

We know from plenty of experience that we can draw a crowd at events, by offering lots of audience participation and promoting all things bike-related.

This crowd-drawing ability then means we can lend our support to different local charities and causes.

The scope of what we do is varied, but some of the events we’ve been a key part of include:

  • Globe 24 Velo Cycle Challenge – in partnership with Pendle Council, we organised this fundraiser for Pendleside Hospice
  • Connecting East Lancashire – Lancashire County Council’s smarter travel campaign
  • Love to Ride – supporting the ongoing drive to get more people, businesses and local governments behind cycling.

We provide support and cycling equipment to a diverse range of events, including:

  • Freshers’ fairs
  • County shows
  • Sustainable transport and active travel roadshows
  • Events for charities.

We supply our own event gazebo, with appropriate branding and banners to attract as much interest from people attending these events as possible.

A big part of what we do is running various cycle-related activities, such as free, pedal-powered fruit smoothies, cycle rides and obstacle courses for children. We provide fun bikes including a penny farthing, mini bike and gauswheel.

We also offer Dr Bike maintenance sessions at events, where people can come and have a bike mechanic fix their bikes for free.

Here are more details about some of the many events we’ve co-hosted and supported.

Globe Velo 24 Cycle Challenge

We held this at the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Nelson. The aim was to get as many cyclists involved as we could, to clock up 18,000 miles in 24 hours.

This was to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice. The overnight challenge also included local bands, and even a Lady Gaga tribute act.

Our aim was to encourage mass participation to match the distance of Mark Beaumont’s record-breaking global cycle route.

We encouraged people to donate £5 to then be a part of this 24 hour cycling challenge. There was also a 12 hour cycling challenge for businesses to get involved in, as teams, which enabled us to raise even more money for the hospice.

Love to Ride

We’ve been supporting Love to Ride, providing equipment and expertise at various events they’ve been promoting.

Love to Ride works with combined and local authorities, with government, advocacy organisations, cycling brands, independent cycling shops, workplaces and social cycling groups. It promotes the benefits of bike riding to residents across Lancashire and nationally.

Go Velo’s input at these events has also enabled Love to Ride to collect information about new riders, providing essential data to help them obtain further funding.

“Go Velo helps build confidence and empower people to have a go.”
