Our first Big Bike Swap went well, here’s a few of the children who came away with bigger bikes and got a quick lesson with instructors before they rode away confidently! All bikes were checked by a qualified mechanics and the unclaimed bikes will be offered to local primary schools for children who do not have access to one. Many thanks to everyone for helping to make this little experiment work! Seeing these happy faces on new bikes, I reckon we will do it again! #recycling #bigbikesswao ... See MoreSee Less

Fabulous to see our news about Barry's kindness and generosity has been shared amongst the cycle training industry. We cant wait to use his equipment and will do so in his memory. Still moved by this. After a paralysing accident, Barry Howarth continued cycling, using power-assisted tandem trikes and power-assisted hand crank cycles.
Sadly, Barry passed away in January 2021, but he left all his equipment to Go Velo for people with a disability to use at their sessions and to take into schools.

Training update
🚴 Schools with year 6 pupils taking part in Bikeability will be our priority
🚴 We will honour all existing year 6 school bookings from March 8th and will call to confirm the booking this week
🚴 Schools with year 6 pupils that have missed out on Bikeability this year will have the option of catching up with the training in the Summer term.
🚴 Holiday activity will go ahead from April 12. This will mainly be focused on Bikeability Level 1/2/3 for year 6 pupils to ensure they do not miss out before leaving primary school......but we will of course put on our very popular learn to ride courses too. Watch this space for eventbrite links.
🚴 Adult training will resume from April 12.
Our training is conducted within Government guidelines for Corona Virus. We social distance, use regular and frequent hand sanitiser and provide anti viral wipes and spray if you are using our equipment. Please contact us for our risk assessment if you are concerned.
The above plan could change depending on Government guidelines but it’s looking good for now.
Thanks all - please get in touch if you have any queries.

Two weeks after receiving the innovation grant to train people with SEND, we received some news that Go Velo had been donated some fabulous adapted bikes. Today was a very moving day, as the bikes, including hand crank bikes, tandem trikes, wheel chair adapted bikes and power assisted tandem/ trikes have been donated by Barry Howarth. Barry cycled with Pendle Forest until he had an accident on a club run 30 years ago. He was left paralysed, but continued cycling with his wife Betty using the adapted bikes. Barry passed away last week but wanted to give his bikes to Go Velo as knew we would make good use of them. We are so grateful for them and know that so many people will make use of them in the future. Barry was always fun to talk to and always came and chatted when we were at work at the hub, the Go Velo team will miss him lots. We will make a donation in his memory to spinal research and keep in touch with Betty who is keen to see the bikes in action. ❤️❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

All our students have special educational needs and therefore having the ability to safely access the community to become an active part of it means such a lot. Many of our students do not have the confidence to get out and about without an adult and hopefully this will help them to build on their confidence and develop essential life skills, whilst taking care of their health and wellbeing. Here’s Pendle’s MP Andrew Stephenson observing one of our Bikeability sessions. It was great to discuss all things cycling and his enthusiasm for what we are doing.Last month I was pleased to join Go Velo Ltd and students from Lord Street Primary School in Colne to observe a Bikeability lesson.
Bikeability is Department for Transport’s flagship national cycle training programme for schoolchildren in England, and is a key component of the Government’s long term vision for cycling and walking.
Bikeability training provides schoolchildren with a life skill. It is a practical training programme, enabling trainees to cycle safely and confidently on today’s roads. More than 3 million children have now received Bikeability training since the programme’s inception in 2007.
The Prime Minister’s vision for cycling and walking published in July set an aspiration to “offer cycle training to everyone who wants to undertake it, whether free or at a nominal charge”. This includes both children and adults. 2019/20 was a record year for the programme with more than 420,000 training places delivered. Bikeability training has now resumed in schools and training is delivered in a COVID secure environment.

Thank you Waterfoot Primary School, Rossendale - super quick turn around. 4 working days from initial booking to training starting and a huge 90 children taking part. That's incredible organisation.
"Even though we had a quick turn around getting letters out and the children ready, all the staff have been extremely happy with they way it has been organised and run. We have known each day what time to have the children ready and what they have needed and the instructors have done their best to ensure that the children have had what they needed.
From the children, they have all been extremely happy and upbeat about the training they received, especially those who are now able to ride a bike and do so more confidently. They are very proud of themselves and a number of them have thanked us for organising it for them.
Below are some messages from parents when I sent the message to them that they were doing the training:
